What Are The 3 Types Of ADHD And Their Symptoms?
The Inattentive Type
Short attention span, difficulty listening to others, difficulty attending to details, easily distracted, forgetful, poor organisational skills for age, poor study skills for age.
The Impulsive Type
Often interrupts others, difficulty waiting in school and social contexts, blurts out answers rather than waiting to be called, takes frequent risks without thinking before acting.
The Hyperactive Type
Constantly in motion, sometimes running or climbing without apparent purpose, difficulty remaining seated even when required, excessive fidgeting including limbs, excessive talking, difficulty engaging in quiet activities, repeatedly loses and forgets things, inability to complete a task to the end.
Combined Presentation
Symptoms of both inattentiveness and hyperactivity-impulsivity. Symptoms may change over time, and individuals may find they have two or all three of the above presentations, demonstrating the significant fluidity of ADHD as an extremely individualised disorder.
